Banbury

The Oxfordshire town with a sunny outlook

Banbury is a historic market town in Oxfordshire, famous for the nursery rhyme, ‘Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross’. It is also known for good coffee and Banbury Cakes - similar to an Eccles Cake but, in many locals’ opinions, better!

With a rich history, beautiful canal and strong cultural offering, Banbury is on the up and up! Many new businesses are setting up here and there is a lot of investment being put into the town; for example, the development of The Light, a 55,000 square foot entertainment space which incorporates several waterside restaurants, a seven-screen cinema, bowling alley, adventure climb, mini-golf, karaoke, interactive darts and American pool.

On top of this the Town Centre business community has formed a BID (Business improved District) making valuable contributions through a levy to fund a BID Manager and team, a range of activities and initiatives to encourage footfall and to make the Town centre a more attractive destination.

The BID has introduced a number of notable initiatives, such as a dedicated Loyalty App - town centre retailers use this to provide great promotional offers - and a purchasing scheme to bring savings to town centre businesses.

The overall aim is to have a thriving town centre, with a great offering of shopping, relaxation and entertainment. Night life in Banbury is also a key part of this, with some fantastic restaurants, bars, pubs and cinemas on offer, as well as a thriving Arts and Theatre Centre.

The BID also undertakes events and pays special attention to the presentation of the town - ‘dressing’ #BanburyBrollies or Suns (fast becoming recognised as Banburys iconic symbol along with the ’Love Banbury’ logo)
